Could you please explain the answer(cries) to the clue ‘ Calls HE ignored from ‘her at No 10’ singular – which appears in Azed’s book ‘A-Z ofcrosswords’ which has puzzled me completely for ages!

Hi Jim
The clue only worked while Tony Blair was Prime Minister! The letters HE are removed (‘ignored’) from CHERIE (Mrs Blair, ie ‘her at No 10’), and the resulting CRIE is followed by S (an abbreviation for ‘singular’). The definition is ‘Calls’. I hope that makes sense.
